Fun Nautical-Themed Cocktails to Kick Off the Summer

The Atlantis is New York’s premier place for a nautical-themed party.Summer is so close now that we can practically taste the barbecued ribs, feel the sunscreen on our skin, and hear beach music in the distance. It’s a wonderful time to be in New York and the perfect reason to throw a party. One of the most festive summer party themes is nautical, with plenty of stripes, shells, and sailor caps to get you in the mood for fun.

Here are some tasty and tempting cocktail recipes with a nautical twist to help you welcome the summer season with open arms. Anchors away!

A Little Dinghy

  • 3 oz. Captain Morgan Parrot Bay coconut rum
  • 3 oz. Malibu coconut rum
  • Splash of cranberry juice
  • Splash of pineapple juice
  • Splash of orange juice

This fruity concoction is sure to please your palate and get you in an “island state of mind.” Measure and mix all ingredients together in a highball glass, and add extra juice to suit your taste and tolerance.

Deep Sea Martini

  • 6 oz. gin
  • 2 oz. dry vermouth
  • ½ tsp. Pernod
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Gin is one of those spirits that often gets overlooked in summertime cocktails, but this martini recipe brings it back in true nautical fashion. Pernod is a type of absinthe that’s popular in France and not for the faint of heart. Combine the ingredients in a shaker, strain into a cocktail glass, and enjoy outside in the fresh air.

Salty Dog

  • 1 ½ oz. Absolut Peppar vodka
  • 5 oz. grapefruit juice

Wake up your taste buds with this simple, yet flavorful drink that’s perfect for a day or evening at sea. Salt the rim of a highball glass and pour in the vodka and juice. The best garnish for this cocktail is a fresh slice of lime.

Tomorrow We Sail

  • 3 ½ oz. champagne
  • ½ oz. late-bottled vintage port
  • ½ oz. dark rum
  • 1 tsp. triple sec

Nothing says “celebration” quite like champagne, and this champagne cocktail is inspired by adventures that only the sea can provide. After mixing these ingredients, serve cocktails in champagne flutes and drop in an orange twist for a garnish.

Port and Starboard

  • 1 tbsp. grenadine
  • ½ oz. green creme de menthe

For something clever and unique to serve your guests, why not switch things up with a festive tray of Port and Starboard shots. To create this classic shot, you’ll need to pour the grenadine into the shot glass first, and then slowly poor the crème de menthe on top so that it floats and doesn’t mix. The result is a magical shot that’s almost too beautiful to drink…almost.

The Best Place to Sip Nautical Cocktails

Although these cocktails would be delicious to drink in any party setting, it should go without saying that the best place to enjoy them is on a boat with stunning views of the New York skyline and harbor.
